City says yes to blue recycling bags
Monday, council members approved an amendment that allows residents to use translucent blue plastic bags, in addition to the current green recycling bins, for weekly curbside recycling collection. The bags cannot be less than 33 gallons in size.

Animal shelter and winery host Yappy Hour
The Burleson Animal Shelter and Lost Oak Winery are teaming up for Yappy Hour July 12, 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Staff will bring adoptable pets for on-site adoptions. A former American Idol contestant will provide the entertainment. Guests may bring their pets.

Spazmatics will bring their 80’s show to the City’s Independence Day concert and fireworks. Don’t miss free family fun at Chisenhall Fields Sports Complex. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. followed by fireworks after 9 p.m. Lions Club’s parade is at 9 a.m.

Fire department offers free basic CPR classes
The Burleson Fire Department is hosting free basic CPR classes on seven Saturdays - June 29, July 27, August 17, September 28, October 19, November 9, and December 21. All classes are 9 a.m.-noon at Fire Station #1. You must be at least 15 to participate.
